Inevitably another of the mobile device giants has followed in the footsteps of the somehow even more giant Apple and created a replica iPhone.
It appears that the device now sports a new OS (Meego) and that it doesn’t even have a home key that one could find on an Apple – it is completely touch controlled.
This all seems very exciting and it promises to be a really good smartphone. For the full article on the release check this link (via lifeissavage.com).

It has been a while since my last post, but here I am back with a bang and some really interesting information. In a word “NanoTech” and what a word it is!
This exciting new field has been developing in the background for the last 20 years or so and making some great leaps into the way things are designed from the ground up – kind of reverse engineering reverse engineering (if that makes any sense).
Anyway, feel free to read up about it at the following links:
This could be a game changer…
Enjoy,

I often forget how one takes the importance of a server for granted. It’s that computer that is probably under your secretary or boss’s desk or the one that is lying in that deserted store room with one side open…
That server is the single point of failure for most businesses and owners are generally shocked when this “highly expensive branded machine” suddenly decides to commit suicide. Usually I am quite surprised to see when I get to a new client how long their server has managed to survive in some conditions.
There are five basic tips that one should always keep in mind with this important machine and they have been listed in the July 2011 issue of Success magazine as follows:
Remember that a server is a worth-while investment and like a car you should park it in your garage, service it regularly, keep it clean and only allow certain people use of it if you wish for it to be a valuable asset to your company.
If there are any other queries or if you require some assistance with your own server issues please get hold of us!
Kind regards,
WarBrad.
To all my customers and clients,
I have to inform you that my request to register for Value Added Tax was not successful. It was with the advice of my accountant that I attempted to register and had it on all my invoices up to beginning of June.
The reason for this post is to inform you that I am in fact not registered and if you require me to re-invoice any of the older invoices that you are welcome to send me the invoice number and I shall gladly update it for you.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Regards,
WarBrad.
Hey guys,
for anybody that is interested I have set up a twitter account so please feel free to go over and follow!
Wow! I’m on the internet – check it out!
I have been attending some of the NMBBC (Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber) events and have featured in one of their pics of the event from Tuesday. The talk was hosted by Trigon Consulting touching on quite the interesting topic of integrity – not only in the workplace, but in our general daily lives. It was quite a revealing talk and very interesting to see what one can learn by asking the correct questions.

So feeling a bit fluey (still) I ended up sitting in bed with my notebook and I am busy with my usual thing: listening to music in the background whilst reading up on some informative sites, searching for snake pics and info in another window, going through some emails and eventually chatting to my girlfriend on MSN (using the voice function which is far inferior to Skype!).
Suddenly out of nowhere my trusty Anti-Virus pops up and tells me of some infection it detected that it wishes to remove. In a panic I delete the offending files and then start reading up on the virus “Backdoor:Win32/Lukicsel.A” (according to Microsoft Security Essentials) revealing some scary details:
Backdoor:Win32/Lukicsel.A is a backdoor trojan that allows remote access and control. It may also copy itself to removable drives.
Needless to say the first thing that comes to mind is backups however being in the industry I have that covered…so now, how did I get infected and why? According to the Microsoft site, this virus is mainly spread through removable devices:
Spreads Via…
Removable drives The malware injects code into the running process “winlogon.exe” that drops a copy of Win32/Lukicsel to removable drives as an executable. The trojan then writes an autorun configuration file named “autorun.inf” pointing to the dropped copy. When the removable drive is accessed from a machine supporting the Autorun feature, the malware is launched automatically.
The whole idea of this post is to warn you of this virus which seems to have re-emerged during the month of April. Please be sure that you have reliable anti-virus and that it is up-to-date with the latest security definitions and more importantly please run a scan of your computer as soon as you can.
You are welcome to read the original article here however be warned that it does get a bit technical. They are even kind enough to provide you with some preventative/reactive tips towards the end.
If you suspect that you have been infected please do not hesitate to contact me.

WarBrad.
Facebook has again been questioned about its privacy protection status with the latest addition to its arsenal of privacy invading techniques – this one enables the automatic tagging (or suggestions of names) of photos uploaded to the site by using facial recognition software to distinguish between faces in the photographs.
This feature was automatically enabled for users throughout the US and “some other countries”.
“Yet again, it feels like Facebook is eroding the online privacy of its users by stealth,” wrote Graham Cluley, a senior technology consultant at Sophos.
It was not too long ago when a flaw in some facebook add-on applications leaked some personal information of millions of users who play the online games and engage in other online tragedies provided in conjunction with the social networking service. I did a short write up on that which is available here.
Facebook authorities have been very reluctant to comment or elaborate on the software simply stating via email that “they should have been more clear with users about the roll-out of this new technology” further stating that the automatic feature is only applicable to new photo’s that are uploaded and can be disabled in one’s settings.
The entire article is available here if you wish to read it for yourself.
Needless to say all I can do is urge users to engage with the social network for the right reasons and not worry about all these extra gimmicks which could end up costing you your life savings when the wrong person gets hold of your personal information.
I think my biggest concern is what kind of pictures might get recognized for some people’s faces…
Just kidding,
WarBrad.
